ITV is set to broadcast an "addictive" thriller that is sure to delight fans of Big Little Lies and Harlan Coben adaptations.

Described by fans as "gripping" and "shocking", The Family Next Door is adapted from the novel of the same name by Sally Hepworth and centres on Isabelle (Teresa Palmer), who becomes consumed by a mystery after relocating to a quiet street in a small Australian town.

Her determination to uncover the truth casts suspicion over four neighbouring families, with plenty of dramatic twists and turns throughout.

The series, which also stars Bella Heathcote, Philippa Northeast, Bob Morley, Catherine McClements and Ming-Zhu Hii, aired in Australia last year to an enthusiastic reception. Now ITV viewers can discover what all the fuss is about, with the show launching on Sunday (May 17).

Teasing the series on Instagram, actress Teresa wrote: "Based on the best-selling novel by the brilliant @sallyhepworth so if psychological suburban thrillers where beneath-the-veneer-of-perfect-lawns-and-friendly-smiles-everyone-is-just-holding-on-by-a-thread kind of vibes are your thing, welllllll then, you'll be VERY into this one."

A number of impressed viewers have taken to social media to declare The Family Next Door "bingeable" while praising the "excellent" acting.

Others highlighted the "twists and turns" and "big reveals" scattered across the series, with one viewer branding it "addictive".

"I watched all six episodes in one night," one person wrote on reviews site Rotten Tomatoes. "Soooo good!" one user posted on Instagram, while another remarked: "Brilliant acting and divine scenery so beautifully filmed."

"Amazing cast, incredible show," another chimed in. A further viewer commented: "I just finished and this series is amazing!!!! Intricate, funny, surprising, heartbreaking. A stellar ensemble cast."

"Wow, this show was amazing!!" exclaimed another impressed viewer. "I had no idea what this show would be about, the story was truly unexpected. What a plot twist at the end, you had me in tears."

"I absolutely loved it and unfortunately just finished it," one devoted fan wrote on Reddit. "Please tell me there will be a season 2?

"I just binged the new Australian series The Family Next Door. I thought it was really well done - I love Australian series like this," somebody else said.
