Banana bread is one of those treats that just never gets old, no matter how many times you it. Despite being a staple during the lockdown months, it has remained popular ever since because it's so easy to make.

You only need a handful of simple ingredients, and it's also easily customisable with whatever you've got at home. He says you can add two ingredients to your cake batter that'll give it so much flavour.

The pro has urged people to start putting chocolate and orange into banana bread. He says these flavours 'work beautifully' together, and will no doubt elevate the simple bake to delicious new heights.

He shared a short clip of the recipe on TikTok, with the full version available on YouTube. After trying it out for themselves, people in the comments were full of praise for the bake, with one hailing it as the 'best they'd ever tried'.

Chocolate orange banana bread

Ingredients

  • Four ripe bananas
  • 250g caster sugar
  • 125g unsalted butter, softened
  • Zest of an orange
  • Two medium eggs
  • Two tsp baking powder
  • 75g dark chocolate chunks

Method

Preheat your oven to 180C or 160C fan and line a loaf tin with greaseproof paper. Peel three of the bananas, put them in a bowl and crush with an electric whisk or your hands. Add the butter and sugar and cream together.

Crack the eggs in one at a time, whisking between each one. Then, add trhe flour and baking powder, and fold in with a spatula or wooden spoon.

Grate in the orange zest and mix, before adding the chocolate and giving it a final mix. Tip the mix into the loaf tin, cut the remaining banana in half lengthways and pop the slices on top. Bake in the oven for an hour, and leave to cool for another hour or so before slicing up and tucking in.
