Shubman Gill addressed the on-field drama that unfolded during Gujarat Titans’ 38-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad. The GT skipper was visibly agitated in the 14th over of SRH's chase, following a debatable LBW review against Abhishek Sharma.
The incident occurred when a delivery struck Abhishek on the boot, prompting Gill and his teammates to go up in appeal. However, the on-field umpire gave not-out, forcing GT to opt for the DRS. However, the replays failed to show the ball’s pitching point, only highlighting the impact and wicket zone. It seemed like the DRS had triggered Gill.
What followed was a fiery exchange between Gill and the umpire, briefly halting play. In fact, Abhishek had to step in to calm down his Indian teammate. While Gill cooled down soon after and carried on with the game, his animated reaction left fans wondering.
“There was a little bit of a discussion with me and the umpire. Sometimes there are so many emotions involved, and as you give your 110 per cent, there are bound to be some emotions,” Gill said at the post-match presentation.
Despite the DRS dispute, it was Gujarat’s batting brilliance that defined the evening. The top order once again outplayed SRH to race to 224/6.

Gill led from the front with a 38-ball 76 while his opening partner, Sai Sudharsa,n smashed 48 runs in 23 balls. After Sudharsan's departure, Jos Buttler took over to score a 37-ball 64. Notably, the team had played only 22 dots throughout the innings.
“Definitely didn't plan that (on playing just 22 dot balls in 20 overs). The only conversation was let's try to play the game we have been playing so far. The black soil pitch is not easy to hit sixes, but the way Sai, Jos, and I play, I think we have an understanding of how to keep the scoreboard ticking,” he said.
Gill further added that there was no pressure on any single batter to anchor the innings, as each of them shares the same hunger to contribute.
“I don't think we have ever had that conversation where one of us has to be there. We are all eager and hungry for runs and do what is best for the team.”
With this win, GT moves to second in the points table with 7 wins from 10 matches. SRH, on the other hand, will have to win all their remaining four matches to stay in contention for the playoffs.
