was noticeably absent from on Monday as the news channel hosted its VE Day special outside Buckingham Palace. The presenter's regular co-host Ellie Costello was joined by Stephen Dixon this morning to front the channel's morning segment, after Eamonn had suffered an "unexpected" fall at his home on Friday.
He took to social media at the time to share some images of himself in an ambulance, and thanked the medical staff who were looking after him. Eamonn told fans at the time that he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance after having a "bit of a fall on the bathroom floor." In the hours following, the broadcaster shared an update, posting from the hospital, where he said that it was not the ideal way to spend the long weekend and that he was grateful to the team taking care of him.
Eamonn added: "Not how I wanted to be spending The Holiday weekend... but life's not easy these days. Thanks to everybody who is looking after me." The broadcaster has previously undergone spinal surgery and a double hip replacement. He has been open about his use of mobility aids, and earlier this year, he asked fans for their support as he continues to grapple with ongoing health issues.
At the time, he said that he is still battling "pain" and at times fears he may not overcome his "disc immobility". Speaking on GB News back in March, he said: "I look at this, and I hear things that really worry me about the way people with disabilities are being portrayed.
"It's as if there's nothing wrong with them, or if they're claiming something, it's dismissed as not being as bad as they say it is.
"I've been in a wheelchair for the past two years, and goodness, my life has changed so much in doing the simplest things, things I used to rely on."

A statement from their representatives confirmed the break up and revealed that a divorce was pending. It read: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."
Eamonn and Ruth share an adult son together, Jack, who is aged 22. Eamonn also has sons Declan, 35, Niall, 31, and daughter Rebecca, 33, from his previous marriage.
