became the third team to get eliminated from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after their clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) was washed out on Monday, May 5.

Fans had come in numbers to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad to cheer for Pat Cummins and Co. in what was a must-win game for the former champions. Cummins won the toss and opted to field first. He went on to bag three wickets inside the first five overs. In the eighth over, DC had lost half their side with just 29 runs on the board.

Vipraj Nigam and tried to forge a fightback with a 33-run partnership. However, the former was dismissed in the 13th over, as a miscommunication with Stubbs saw him getting run out for 18. Delhi were forced to bring in Ashutosh Sharma as the Impact Player. The right-handed batter played a counter-attacking knock and stitched a defiant 66-run stand off 45 balls with Stubbs. Ashutosh was eventually dismissed for a 26-ball 41, hitting two fours and three sixes.

Stubbs remained unbeaten on 41 after facing 36 deliveries as the visiting side finished on 133/7 in their 20 overs. Cummins was the pick of the SRH bowlers as he finished with remarkable figures of 3/19 in his four overs. Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, and Eshan Malinga also picked up a wicket apiece.

While some balls were stopping on the batters in the initial phase of the innings, it seemed to get better for batting as the game progressed. SRH would have fancied their chances of chasing down the total but weather Gods had other ideas.

Unfortunately, a long spell of steady rain meant puddles had formed on the ground, especially towards the boundary's edge. After the rain relented, the groundstaff tried their best while racing against time. In the end, the umpires decided that a restart wouldn't be possible and they called the game off.

SRH joined Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals as the three teams out of the playoff race in IPL 2025. Meanwhile, DC remained at No. 5 on the points table, with 13 points from 11 matches. They can still make it to the playoffs despite the washout.
