New Delhi – India's indigenous defense sector is going to get another major success. Tejas Mark-2, a fighter aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art technology, will now be ready to fly. This new aircraft is not only an advanced version of Tejas Mark-1, but it will also give India a strong place in the category of 4.5 generation fighter aircraft.
Tejas-MK2 is designed to replace aircraft such as old MiG-29, Mirage-20,000 and Jaguar. Until India's fifth generation stealth fighter project AMCA (Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft) is fully prepared, Tejas-MK2 will be the backbone of the Air Force.
This fighter jet has a powerful F414-INS6 engine of General Electric, which makes it even more dynamic and faster. Apart from this, it also includes advanced AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar, electronic warfare suit and state -of -the -art weapon system. This aircraft will also be able to easily carry air -to -air and air -to -ground missiles.
The special thing is that Tejas-MK2's cockpit will be fully consistent with night vision goggles (NVGS). That is, even in the dark, this aircraft will be able to accurately attack the enemy without any hassle. According to the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the first flight of Tejas-MK2 is possible by the end of this year. The government plans to include about 120 to 180 Tejas-MK2 aircraft in the Air Force by 2035, which will give new strength to India's defense preparations.
This step will prove to be another major milestone in the direction of 'self -sufficient India' and will make India in the list of select countries in the world that are capable of developing fighter aircraft above the fourth generation on their own.
