British Superbike rider Tom Tunstall is in a "serious" but "stable" condition after sustaining a broken bone in his neck during the crash that saw two of his competitors killed. Both Owen Jenner, 21, and Shane Richardson, 29, at Oulton Park on Monday.

Tunstall, 47, was transferred to Royal Stoke University Hospital with back and abdominal injuries. Five other riders also came away with minor injuries. Motor Sport Vision Racing have now released an update from the British Superbike Medical team, saying the SRG Specialist Risk Group Ducati man is expected to make a complete recovery.

"We can confirm that Tom Tunstall has sustained a broken bone in his neck and is currently under the care of a team of specialists at the Royal Stoke Hospital." they wrote. "While his condition is serious, he is stable and receiving the best possible treatment.

"Doctors are closely monitoring his progress and will determine in the coming days whether surgery will be necessary. At this time, a slow but hopefully full recovery is expected."

During the first lap of the British Supersport Championship race, a harrowing crash saw 11 riders fall come off their bikes. Organisers chose to abandon the meeting after the incident, as emergency medical treatment was administered at the track.

MSVR and the Motorcycle Racing Control Board have said they are "investigating the full circumstances of the incident in conjunction with the Coroner and Cheshire Constabulary." they are "investigating two deaths on behalf of the coroner following a multiple collision."

After three testing events, the Oulton Park meeting officially marked the beginning of the 2025 British Superbikes season. The next round is scheduled for Donnington Park over the weekend of May 16-18.

The series culminated at Brands Hatch with the 11th round, named the Showdown Finale, in October. The Supersport Championship is a support class to the main British Superbike series.
