Rockstar Games just pulled a fast one on everyone. No teasers, no countdown, just a surprise drop of GTA VI Trailer 2 today. And just like that, we’re back in Vice City, only this time it’s modern, messy, and way more dangerous.
We’ve been following this game since the first trailer dropped back in December 2023. That one smashed records. Trailer 2? It dives deeper into the story, characters, and the crazy world of Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional version of Florida. And let me tell you, it’s absolutely wild.
The trailer opens with a shirtless Jason fixing a rundown beach house while Lucia gets out of prison. But don’t get too comfortable—they waste no time robbing a store, loading beer into their car, and hitting the beach for a workout. The whole thing feels like GTA and Netflix’s Narcos had a baby.
According to Rockstar, “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
It’s intense. The chemistry between the two reminds us of Bonnie and Clyde, but if they had access to jet skis, strip clubs, and stolen bank vaults.
Vice City is back, but it’s no longer stuck in the ’80s. This is a modern-day chaos pit full of neon lights, social media chaos, and shady deals. It’s gritty, violent, and somehow still feels like a weird holiday destination you wouldn’t survive two days in.
The trailer shows:
If you blink, you’ll miss a few returning fan favourites, like Ammu-Nation, and those iconic GTA-style vehicles that fans have been waiting for.
Rockstar updated its official GTA VI website alongside the trailer release. It now includes story summaries, screenshots, and deeper looks into Leonida’s criminal underworld.
A couple of other notes:
The delay news from last week still stings. GTA VI was originally set for Fall 2025, but now it’s pushed to May 26, 2026.
Rockstar said, “With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
Honestly, we’ve waited over a decade since GTA V. What’s one more year?
What stood out most to me wasn’t the explosions or the jet skis—it was the emotional tone. Lucia and Jason seem like they’re in love and in deep trouble. There’s a moment where they raise a toast to “new beginnings,” and right after that, they’re out robbing again. It feels less like random chaos and more like two people spiralling together in a corrupt system.
That doesn’t mean Rockstar has gone soft. This is still GTA. It’s messy, violent, and full of satire. But this time, it’s stitched together by a narrative that might make us care more than we usually do in a GTA game.
If you haven’t watched Trailer 2, go do that now. Rockstar didn’t show gameplay yet, but what they’ve revealed so far looks promising, maybe even game-of-the-decade-level stuff if it sticks the landing.
Until then, let’s keep rewinding that vault chase scene and try not to cry about the 2026 delay.
