Kitchen assistance robot maker Posha (formerly known as Nymble Labs) has raised $8 Mn (around INR 67 Cr) in a Series A funding round led by Accel.

The round also saw participation from existing investors, including Xeed Ventures and WaterBridge Ventures, along with angel investors like Flipkart cofounder Binny Bansal and others.

The Bengaluru-based startup plans to use the fresh capital to expand the recipe database and improve the user interface experience of the kitchen robot.

Posha said in a statement that with the current funding round it has now come out of its stealth mode and is taking pre-orders for its AI-driven kitchen robot which is scheduled for shipping from next year.

The startup has priced the robot at $1,500 (around INR 2 Lakh) and is also offering a subscription model to access customised recipes.

Founded in 2016 by Raghav Gupta and Rohin Malhotra, Posha has developed a kitchen assistance robot. Unlike other humanoid robots, Posha looks more like any other kitchen device which has the capability to cook 1000+ recipes spanning over more than 10 cuisines, the startup claims.

The startup further claims that the device, powered with its AI-driven tech stack, can adapt to the preferences of the users overtime personalising the meals to individual tastes.

At the time the startup said that it would launch its kitchen robot first in the US the market as it was much more mature in domestic help automation segment and the need was far greater compared to India.

But eventually the launch of its product got pushed to June 2024.

Posha is competing with the likes of other smart kitchen and robotic appliances makers such as Evochef, Mukunda Foods and Beyond Appliances. The current funding will help Posha to tap into India’s .

The startup is launching its device in India when the Centre is giving a huge push to the deeptech sector in the country.

Besides, the government also decided that it would deploy a larger , announced as part of the budget speech to back deeptech startups in the country. Additionally, the demand and need for automating domestic help such as cooking has also seen a surge in the post covid era.
