A man has been arrested following an alleged stabbing at a block of flats in Kirkby, Merseyside, on Tuesday. Police said a man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to Beech Rise, on Roughwood Drive, at around 12.45pm. A man, 62, was arrested at the scene and is now being questioned by detectives.

Police officers remain in the area this evening to carry out forensic, house-to-house and witness enquiries. They are also appealing for information from the public.
