guests Hugh and Bruce were full of enthusiasm over buying their dream home in Spain - but they abruptly called things to halt as one declared he "hated" a home's feature with a "passion". The Alicante property came with a huge outdoor space that didn't match up with the rock bottom price tag - and had expected the pair to snap it up.
It was on the market at very slightly over their £135,000 budget, but that wasn't the problem. Instead, Hugh announced that the terracotta tiles would have to be ripped out or he couldn't consider the purchase. "I hate terracotta tiles with a passion - and there are a lot that would have to be removed up there," he insisted.
His partner Bruce immediately agreed: "I'm with you on that one."
An astonished Jasmine quizzed: "You are more bothered about the colour of the tiles than the size of the outdoor space?"
She pointed out that she'd "pulled out all the stops" to secure them their dream two-bed penthouse in the thriving district of San Pedro del Pinatar.
However the husbands, who were planning to relocate from Scotland to retire in Alicante, were resolute - they wouldn't be investing in retiling the rooftop space.
The couple's hatred of terracotta limited their choices on another property too, as local laws prevented them from making the necessary adjustments to the home.
Jasmine confirmed they "wouldn't be allowed" to change the colour of the exterior, asserting: "You do have to learn to love terracotta if you want to buy this house."
Despite the find being under the requested budget, Hugh and Bruce turned that one down almost immediately too.
At one point, Jasmine - who confessed helping the exacting pair had been "challenging" - questioned whether they "even wanted" to continue with the string of viewings.
