The 2025 BAFTA TV Awards proved to be emotional viewing, with TV viewers reduced to tears over one particular heartfelt moment.

This year's event saw Strictly Come Dancing triumph, with the BBC show securing the award for Most Memorable Moment, for Dianne Buswell and Chris McCausland's 'blackout dance' during the 2024 competition.

Dianne was on hand to accept the award, which was decided by public vote. Chris was absent from the BAFTAs but still issued a message to fans, delivered by his dance partner.

The duo's 'blackout' dance captured hearts of Strictly fans last year, as it involved a part where Chris covered Dianne's eyes while darkness tookover the stage in a tribute to Chris' personal perspective of the world as a blind person.

"In one minute and 30 seconds of a dance, I feel like this told such a story. A story of hope, determination, resilience and vulnerability," Dianne said on stage at the BAFTAs.

"This moment meant so much to the both of us, so I'm just so thrilled that we have this," the professional dancer emotionally added.

She then relayed Chris' message to Strictly fans, saying: "Chris did have something he wanted me to say, and that is 'after 22 years in comedy, he wins a Bafta for dancing'."

Fans watching the BAFTAs at home on Sunday (11 May), were quick to spot Dianne's boyfriend Joe Sugg in the audience, as the camera moved across the room.

Joe appeared tearful as he watched his girlfriend on stage, with many TV viewers becoming emotional at the heartfelt scene.

"Awwww did I spot a tear in Joe's eye? #BAFTAS #BAFTATVAwards," one fan wrote on X, while a second said: "I've just absolutely wailed at that shot of Joe with tears in his eyes #BAFTATVAwards #BAFTAS."

"Joe crying whilst Dianne receives her award I'm not okay #BAFTAS," another added, and a fourth added: "Omg Joe sugg crying at Dianne accepting the award has fully got me #BAFTas."

Other big wins of the evening included Danny Dyer bagging the award for Comedy Performance, Jessica Gunning winning Best Supporting Actress and Ruth Jones being awarded Female Performance in a Comedy.

The 2025 BAFTA TV Awards aired on 11 May and can be streamed via BBC iPlayer.
