In a light-hearted yet memorable moment following the emotional unveiling of the ‘Rohit Sharma Stand’ at Wankhede Stadium, India’s ODI captain was seen pulling up his younger brother Vishal for accidentally denting their car.
Shortly after the grand ceremony on Friday, where the Mumbai Cricket Association honoured Rohit by naming a stand after him at the iconic Wankhede, a video surfaced that left fans in stitches.
It captured Rohit, standing alongside his brother near the family car, pointing at a dent and asking in his signature deadpan tone, “Yeh kya hai?”
Caught off guard, Vishal sheepishly responded, “Reverse.” Rohit quipped back instantly: “Kiska? Tere se?”, sending social media into a frenzy with what many called “peak big brother energy.”
The interaction came minutes after a touching public tribute to the Mumbai stalwart, who called it a surreal experience to receive such an honour while still playing for India.
“As a kid growing up wanting to play for Mumbai and India, no one thinks about things like these. For me to have my name amongst the greats of the game and the world’s top political leaders... I cannot express what the feelings are,” Rohit had said at the ceremony.
The Wankhede function was graced by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, several dignitaries, and Rohit’s closest family members, including parents Gurunath and Poornima Sharma, wife Ritika Sajdeh, and younger brother Vishal. It was a rare sight of Rohit getting overwhelmed as he brought his family to the stage for the grand inauguration.

Ritika, who has been by Rohit's side through thick and thin, looked visibly emotional as confetti filled the stadium and the stand was unveiled. Rohit credited his family for their sacrifices and thanked the MCA and Apex Council for the honour.
“To receive this while I’m still playing is special. I’ve retired from two formats but I’ll be back here playing for MI against Delhi on the 21st. That’ll be a special feeling.”
With back-to-back ICC titles under his belt, the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy, Rohit continues to be a cornerstone of Indian cricket. After the honour, the focus now shifts to the IPL 2025 as MI look to qualify for the playoffs.
