The (RCB) may not have clinched the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy in their 18-year journey, but they have consistently remained one of the most popular teams in the tournament. They are known for their fan base and legendary batting line-ups over the years. RCB has been in the spotlight both for their excellent performances and their poor downfalls.

In the 17 completed seasons of the IPL, RCB has finished the league stage as table toppers only once, which came during the 2011 edition. The team was led by Daniel Vettori and they secured nine wins from 14 league matches by finishing at the top of the table. They made it to the final but fell short against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who won the IPL title. The 2011 season was also special as it was the first time 10 teams competed in the tournament.

In the IPL history, RCB has been led by several prominent cricketers, including Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Kevin Pietersen, Daniel Vettori, and Faf du Plessis. However, the most iconic captain for the franchise remains Indian legend Virat Kohli, who captained the side for almost a decade. The former Indian captain took the Bengaluru-based franchise to reach the playoffs on multiple occasions and came close to winning the title during the IPL 2016.

In the 18th edition of the IPL, RCB is led by Rajat Patidar. The team has performed pretty well in the 2025 season and has already qualified for the playoffs. They gained 17 points from 12 matches and are on the verge of possibly finishing at the top of the table again. The final two league matches for RCB are against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 23 and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27. If RCB wins both games, they could finish first in the IPL 2025 points table and gain a significant advantage heading into the playoffs.
