In astrology, Shani Dev is considered a judge and karma -dominated deity. Saturday is considered auspicious for the worship of Shani Dev, but celebrating Jyeshtha Amavasya as Shani Jayanti is considered to be the best because Shani Dev was born on this day. This year Shani Jayanti will be celebrated on 27 May 2025 i.e. Tuesday. Devotees try to get the grace of Shani Dev by observing a fast on this day and worshiping lawfully.
To please Shani Dev, complete adherence to the rules is necessary because Shani Dev gets pleased quickly and gets angry quickly. According to Jyotishacharya, there is no mistake in the worship of Shani Dev, for this it is very important to have the right knowledge of worship and method.
Shani Jayanti is falling on Jyeshtha Amavasya this year, which is considered extremely auspicious for bathing, charity and Pitra worship.
During the puja, the required materials include black sesame, mustard oil, black cloth, black gram, peepal leaves, iron or steel utensils, incense-lamps, gulab jamuns, black urad dal, blue flowers, shami leaves, seasonal fruits and Shani Chalisa or Saturn Birth story. All these things are considered mandatory for the worship of Shani Dev.
Worship of Shani Jayanti
On the day of Shani Jayanti, first go to the nearest Shani temple and worship. Offer black sesame, black urad dal, black gram and peepal leaves to Shani Dev. Then offer black clothes and apply Gulab Jamun in enjoyment. After this, light a lamp by putting wick in mustard oil. At the end of worship, recite Shani Chalisa or Shani Birth story. Keep in mind that while worshiping, do not look directly in the eyes of Shani Dev.
At the end of the puja, put mustard oil in the iron or steel vessel and see your face and donate this oil to the poor. Apart from this, by donating black or blue clothes, mustard oil, black sesame, steel udder, black urad, black umbrella or black slippers, the grace of Shani Dev is obtained and planetary defects are also removed.
