New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has introduced a set of prepaid plans that offer access to over 25 popular OTT platforms, which is a first in India. All-in-one entertainment packages cost Rs 279 and come with Netflix Basic, JioCinema, Zee5, SonyLiv and Airtel Xstream Play Premium. The goal is to make it easier for users by letting them recharge for many platforms with a single option.

This launch is an important step in Airtel’s plan to get new users and compete with Reliance Jio. As people ask for more data and entertainment, Airtel is working to give them both. Users can enjoy content worth Rs 750 by just paying Rs 279 through the introductory pack.

Affordable OTT access in one recharge

The Rs 279 pack offers a subscription for 1 month and covers Netflix Basic, JioCinema, Zee5 and Airtel Xstream Play Premium. Airtel claims that this pack is intended to make it simpler for customers to deal with OTT subscriptions.

Users who want extra features can try the Rs 598 pack for 28 days or the Rs 1,729 pack for 84 days. The package comes with limitless 5G data, unlimited voice calls and the same OTT bundle.

Airtel vs Jio

This new OTT plan is introduced as Airtel pulls ahead of Jio in getting new subscribers. TRAI data in March revealed that Airtel gained 1.65 million new users, which was more than double the 686,143 users Jio added. Jio is still in front with a market share of 40.46%, while Airtel has gained 33.61%. By offering bundled content and new prepaid options, Airtel seems to be gaining an advantage, especially with young people who use a lot of content.

More value for heavy data users

Airtel has also launched a Rs 1,199 plan that includes 84 days of service with 2.5GB daily data, unlimited 5G, 100 SMS/day and an Amazon Prime Lite subscription. The plan was made for those who do a lot of streaming and work remotely.

The Airtel Black plan for Rs 399 also offers internet up to 10 Mbps and endless calls using a landline. Airtel wants to provide more unified and lasting benefits in the prepaid market.
