Wednesday marks two years to the day since football fans waved icon Jeff Stelling. The veteran broadcaster, 70, hosted a special edition of on the final day of the 2022/23 season before hanging up his microphone after a quarter of a century.

The assumed the presenting mantle of the show in 1998, leading to over twenty years of entertainment, football drama and expert analysis, all under his adept stewardship. Despite usually being the one to poke fun at his studio analysts, Stelling once admitted that experiencing a role reversal was among the 'lowest points' of his time on .

Chris Kamara, 67, became a fan favourite alongside Stelling, with the pair creating countless memorable moments. Kamara's occasional slip-ups were part of his charm, but he relished the opportunity to turn the tables on Stelling during a match in October 2016, much to the host's chagrin.

Kamara was reporting on West Ham's clash with Sunderland when he caught Stelling making a rare error. "Let's go and find out what's happening at Upton Park. West Ham nil Sunderland nil, does this look like it's going to end in deadlock to you Chris Kamara?," Stelling asked.

Kamara was quick to correct his host, saying: "The London Stadium you mean Jeff? Get it right... come on." Caught off guard by his oversight of the Hammers' move from their former ground, Stelling took the jibe in stride.

"That's the low point in my career," he joked. "Chris Kamara telling me to get it right. Unbelievable Kammy."

The pair's on-screen chemistry also helped gift supporters one of UK sport's most comical moments in 2010. Football fans will no doubt recall Stelling yelling in typical animated fashion: "There's been a red card at Fratton Park, but for who Chris Kamara?," Famously, this was then met by Kamara, with an oblivious, yet hilarious response of: "I don't know Jeff, has there? I must have missed that."

Stelling had initially planned to retire at the end of the 2021/22 season, but changed his mind and stayed on for another year. He has continued to make waves on radio and was honoured as a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2024 New Year Honours for his contributions to sport, broadcasting, and charity.

On the other hand, Kamara left Soccer Saturday after 24 years following the 2021/22 football season. Before his departure, he disclosed that "live TV might have to take a back seat" while discussing his apraxia of speech diagnosis.

At the time, Stelling showed his class by sending a touching tribute to Kamara, saying: "Kammy you still bring life, energy, fun and understanding to all of your reports on Soccer Saturday. We all love you pal, keep going!"
