After nearly eight years, veteran batsman Karun Nair is back in Team India’s radar, celebrating his recall with a spectacular double century for India A against England Lions in an unofficial Test match at Canterbury.
Strong Start on Day 1India A’s innings began shakily with openers Abhimanyu Easwaran and Yashasvi Jaiswal failing to make big scores. Coming in at number three, Karun Nair steadied the innings by scoring a brilliant century on the very first day, showcasing his excellent domestic form abroad.
Completed Double Century on Day 2Continuing his dominance on the second day, Nair added 14 more runs in just an hour, hitting a four at 199 to complete his double century. His innings included 26 fours and 1 six, ending at 204 runs off 272 balls. His performance helped India A approach a massive total near 500 runs.
Karun Nair, 33, has a special affinity for playing big against England, with three of his four career double centuries coming against England or its teams. This includes a historic triple century in the 2016 Chennai Test versus England and a double century in county cricket last year.
This recent knock once again puts England under pressure ahead of the official Test series.
