When sealing the container, she advocates for leaving it only partially closed to prevent moisture build-up and recommends laying some paper towels inside it to soak up any additional dampness.

Storing strawberries in a single layer will help protect these sensitive fruits from getting squashed, reports .

However, if you intend to consume strawberries on the day of purchase, there's no necessity to refrigerate them as they are most flavoursome at room temperature, hence they can be left out on the kitchen worktop.
