A coastal walk is one of the best ways to explore the UK's incredible coastline, which is home to scenic views, beautiful beaches, and charming towns and villages. The UK boasts a number of lovely trails suitable for both longer, challenging hikes and shorter exploration journeys.

Yet, this one trail that crosses the Devon-Dorset border might be one of the best. The journey between Seatown and Lyme Regis is made up of lush and rocky terrains shaped by years of waves and wind movements. A string of landslips has produced a five-mile undercliff. One of the most famed examples of the undercliffs' movement is Christmas Day in 1839 - 15 acres, that weighted around eight million tonnes, slipped from the cliff to form a 60-metre deep and 800-metre long chasm.

The undercliff is one of the best parts of the path, the lush area is full of leaves and flowers of every shape and colour, to the point where it is often compared to a rainforest.

Where the undercliff ends at Lyme Regis, another journey begins. The stunning town, dubbed the Pearl of Dorset, is, in fact, a national gem. The town's main streets are lined with coffee shops and lamp posts decorated with coiled shells.

Lyme Regims is England's only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. Around 200 million years ago, the land was on the same latitude as North Africa. The beaches east of Lyme Regis are some of the best spots on the Jurassic Coast for fossil hunting, particularly for ammonites.

The journey, is certainly not easy, but well worth it. The path from Seatown to Lyme Regis is about seven miles, and the return back is just as incredible.

Passing through the folding valleys, the colourful cottages in Charmouth is a one-of-a-kind experience, before heading back into Seatown, where a gorgeous pub awaits. The Anchor Inn is a challenge to get into, which is actually beneficial, otherwise it would simply be overcrowded.

The charming pub sits at the mouth of a golden cove, tucked in between cliffs. Its the perfect location for families and dog walkers, with it sitting close to the beach.

One visitor who said they "couldn't fault anything" about the pub, wrote on TripAdvisor: "The Anchor is beautifully set up with the outside bar over looking the sea/beach with the outside terrace to enjoy drinks & wonderful food. Inside we then sat in the original part in a cosy corner opposite the well stocked bar. Staff were very attentive, friendly & welcoming."

Another said: "Great views, food enjoyed by all the generations, brilliant staff and great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back soon."
