Popular television couple Kunal Verma and Pooja Banerjee (also known as Puja Bose) have found themselves at the center of a serious legal controversy. The Calangute Police in Goa have registered a case against the two, along with Piyush Kothari and others, on charges of kidnapping and extorting ₹23 lakh from a Kolkata-based man.

The complaint has been filed by Malvika Dey, wife of Shyam Sundar Dey, a television producer. According to the FIR, a conspiracy was allegedly hatched to abduct Shyam Sundar between May 31 and June 4.

The police report claims that Shyam Sundar was forcibly taken out of a rented vehicle while traveling with companions. He was allegedly held against his will at a hotel in Anjuna and later at a villa in Saligao. During his captivity, a ransom of ₹23 lakh was allegedly demanded.

The case has been officially registered and is being investigated by Sub-Inspector Vishal Mandrekar. The involvement of known TV personalities has sent shockwaves through the industry. As the probe deepens, more details are expected to emerge.

Amid mounting speculation, Pooja Banerjee took to Instagram to address the allegations. In her post, she wrote:

"We are going through the most difficult phase of our life. Grateful to those who are standing with us. Those who believe the lies—may God bless them too. I believe in God, and the truth will come out soon. The police are investigating."

The police have not yet confirmed the full list of accused or their roles in the incident. As of now, no arrests have been made, and all parties are being called in for questioning.
