Laura Tobin was notably absent from Good Morning Britain on Wednesday (July 2), leaving fans saying the same thing. The meteorologist, 43, has been the main weather presenter on the ITV programme since its inception in 2014, but was replaced by Des Coleman. Sharing the latest forecast updates with fans, Des confirmed that the UK heatwave has now passed and while people in the UK can still expect sun, there will be heavy showers across the country as temperatures dramatically drop.
Viewers were delighted to see a new face on their screens as they flocked to social media after spotting Des on the programme. "Nice to see a weather man on this morning," one wrote as a second agreed: " It's always a good day when @DESCOLEMAN is on - even if it is raining!!"
"Lovely to see Des back on GMB," gushed another viewer as a fourth penned: "Hi Des!"
Another gushed: "Yay our Des is back missing him doing our local weather." Meanwhile, someone else branded the rarely-seen presenter as a "breath of fresh air".
Others believe that Des should feature on the show more often, with one demanding: "Absolutely! He needs to be a permanent fixture on the show!"
Laura was absent from the programme as she travelled to Germany on Tuesday after being invited to the Eumetsat headquarters for the launch of a new satellite.
Sharing a video on her Instagram Stories, Laura revealed that Eumetsat are a satellite agency which monitors the weather, climate and environment from space.
The GMB star then gave a glimpse inside and outside the building, which was filled with replicas of satellites. Laura was then treated to a tour around Mission Control, declaring: "Who wouldn't want to be here?"
Concluding her updates, Laura penned: "WE HAVE LIFT OFF. Go science. To the many amazing scientists who made this happen & will continue to monitor as the satellite is turned for us meteorologists (and more) to use."
