If you do business or are employed and you have not made a PAN card yet, then there is no need to panic. The Government of India has made it easy and digital. Now you can get your permanent account number (PAN) in minutes through Instant E-Pan-that too without any paper document. This facility is especially beneficial for those who have to file income tax returns, open a bank account, or start investing in the stock market and do not yet have a PAN card. Let us understand in detail what this process is and how you can do it.

What is PAN card and why is it necessary?

PAN (Permanent Account Number) is a 10-conductive alphanumeric ID which is released by the Income Tax Department. This ID is used to record all your financial activities and prevent tax evasion.

It is necessary:

  • To fill the income tax return (ITR)

  • To open a bank account

  • To invest in stock market or mutual funds

  • On transactions of 2 lakh or more

  • Applying for credit card or loan

What is Instant E-Pan facility?

If you have an Aadhaar card and is link to the mobile number, then you can make your E-Pan card immediately from the Income Tax Department website. In this process, no document has to be uploaded, nor physical form has to be filled.

How to apply for Instant E-Pan?

Follow the easy steps given below:

Step 1:

Go to the official website of Income Tax Department:

Step 2:

Go to the “Quick Links” section on the homepage and click on “Instant E-Pan” from there.

Step 3:

Now click on “Get New e-Pan” option.

Step 4:

Enter your 12 -digit Aadhaar number and check the “Continue” button by checking the necessary announcements.

Step 5:

Now OTP (One Time Password) will come on your Aadhaar’s mobile number. Enter it and click on “Validate Aadhaar OTP”.

Step 6:

You have to accept terms and conditions. Check the checkbox and “Continue”.

Step 7:

Once again enter OTP and confirm the application.

Step 8:

If your email ID is not already linked to Aadhaar, the website will give you the option to verify the email.

Will get your e-pan

Within a few minutes of following all these steps, your E-Pan will be generated in PDF format.

You can download it and use it in all your work. Note: You can use E-PAN just like Aadhaar card. This is a valid and valid document by the Income Tax Department.
