LCP was launched by Riot Games, League of Legends publisher, and Carry International in 2025, replacing the national championships VCS (Vietnam), PCS (Taipei), and LJL (Japan).

The upcoming season finals in Da Nang is the first final round in the tournament’s history. Riot Games choosing Vietnam as the destination for this event shows the position of the Vietnamese eSports community in the region.

The event will bring together the three strongest teams in the region, competing for two spots at the 2025 LoL World Championship. The tournament is expected to attract millions of online viewers while also boosting local tourism and the economy.

According to Riot Games, Da Nang meets the infrastructure and technical requirements and has a passionate gaming community. In addition to being a new destination for eSports, the coastal city also possesses many conditions to develop a tourism model combined with international events.

Before the finals, the Group Breaker round, which will determine the place in the Contenders group, will take place on Aug. 15 with the participation of 4 teams: GAM Esports, MGN Vikings (MVKE), SHG, and CTBC Flying Oyster. The two winning teams will enter the top group with CFO and Secret Whales (TSW); the two losing teams will fall to the lower group.

With three teams from Vietnam participating in LCP 2025 (GAM, MVKE, and TSW), fans expect them to perform well. However, the ability of all three teams to advance further depends on the international competition experience of each team in the context of competing against leading teams from Japan, Taiwan, and the Oceania region.

The LCP 2025 Season Finals is expected to attract millions of viewers and create substantial engagement across various platforms. The event features activities such as cosplay competitions, player meet-and-greets, and booths selling authentic Riot Games merchandise.
