Inaugural IPL champion Rajasthan Royals, after a few good seasons at the start of the decade, had a miserable one last year after an underwhelming mega-auction. The Jaipur-based franchise finished ninth on the points table. And now, their retention list has set them up to make major changes in the upcoming season.

The deadline for retentions for 2025 IPL was today. We now take a look at the base structure for each team, with which they will enter the auction next month. Here, we will look at the Royals and the players they have retained from their last season’s squad.

RR was part of the biggest trade of this season, trading away their captain, Sanju Samson, to the Chennai Super Kings. In return, they got the all-rounder duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. They also traded away batter Nitish Rana to the Delhi Capitals for Rs. 4.2 crore.

RR Retention List IPL 2026

Despite a poor season last year, this team has retained a lot of players and will only look to make small but crucial additions to their squad in the auction.

Let us start with their Indian batting, as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel will not only form the core of the team’s batting but will also form their young leadership group.

Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi was retained as well, among other batters like Shimron Hetmyer, Shubham Dube, Lhuan dre Pretorius, and Donovan Ferreira, the last of whom was traded in from Delhi Capitals.

Parag was the only all-rounder retained but will be joined next season by the traded Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

No specialist spinner was retained by RR this season, as they will be targeted in the auction. Finally, a bus full of pacers was retained.

The fast bowlers that will play for the Royals next season are Jofra Archer, Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, Nandre Burger, Kwena Maphaka, and Yudhvir Singh.
