IND vs NZ: The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand was played in Vadodara. With a spectacular victory in this match, India has taken a 1-0 lead. There is happiness in the Indian camp after the spectacular victory in the first ODI, but injuries to the players have increased the concern of the management. Washington Sundar, who played an important role in the victory in the first match, will now not be able to play in the remaining two matches of the series due to injury.

How did you get injured?

According to official BCCI information, Sundar felt severe pain in his left lower rib while bowling at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday.

He left the field in the middle of New Zealand’s innings. However, he later came to bat at number 8 and scored 7 runs, but he looked quite uncomfortable. After the match, captain Shubman Gill had confirmed that Sundar was suffering from ‘side strain’ and he had been taken for a scan.

Ayush Badoni got ‘Maiden Call’

As an alternative to Washington Sundar, the selectors have included Delhi’s young all-rounder Ayush Badoni in the team. This is Badoni’s first call for the Indian team. He is primarily an aggressive batsman and also bowls useful off-spin. He is consistently performing well for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL and Delhi in domestic cricket.

He will join the team before the second ODI to be held in Rajkot.
