Greater Noida: A high-speed Mahindra Thar crashed into a motorcycle and dragged it for nearly 10 kilometres in Greater Noida, police said. The alarming sequence, captured on CCTV cameras at multiple locations, left one motorcyclist injured and led to a police chase across several areas.

According to officials, the SUV had stopped at a petrol pump in Dhum Manikpur to refuel. After filling the tank, the driver allegedly drove away without making payment. Petrol pump employees attempted to stop the vehicle and eventually chased it on a motorcycle. During the pursuit, the Thar rammed into their two-wheeler.

The impact caused the motorcycle to become stuck underneath the SUV. Instead of halting, the driver continued speeding away, dragging the bike along the road. Friction from the dragging reportedly caused the motorcycle to catch fire. Eyewitnesses shouted and tried to alert the driver as sparks and smoke emerged, but the vehicle did not stop.

Police teams from Badalpur, Dadri Kot and Jarcha police stations launched a joint operation to intercept the SUV. After chasing it for around 10 kilometres, officers managed to stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody. The SUV was seized as part of the investigation.

The accused has been identified as Harsh, a 22-year-old resident of Bulandshahr. Police said the entire episode was recorded on CCTV footage, which is now being examined to piece together the exact sequence of events and determine the appropriate charges.

Officials from Badalpur Police Station confirmed that a detailed probe is underway to establish all circumstances surrounding the incident.
