The cooling effect of a cooler during the scorching heat depends largely on its cooling pads. If the cooler is equipped with the right pads, you'll still get cool air, no matter how high the outside temperature. There are two main types of cooling pads available in the market: honeycomb pads and traditional grass pads.

Honeycomb pads are modern in design and are known for their excellent cooling due to their beehive-like structure. Grass pads have been used since ancient times and can provide good cooling at a lower cost.

However, both options have their own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, it's important to have proper information about them when purchasing a cooler or replacing old pads.

Advantages of Grass Cooling Pads
The biggest advantage of grass-based cooling pads is their low cost. Because of their low cost, they can be easily replaced if needed.

If the water in your area has a high salt content, these pads may be more useful as they are easier and cheaper to replace.

Grass pads get wet quickly, and as soon as they absorb water, the cooler immediately starts providing cool air. Furthermore, they are made from natural materials, making them environmentally friendly.

Disadvantages of Grass Pads
Grass pads are not very durable. They often need to be replaced every season, and sometimes even two or three times in a single summer.

Dirt accumulates quickly. Once covered with dirt, they are difficult to clean, and therefore, they no longer function properly.

Furthermore, if the pads are not completely wet, the cooling sensation is less.

Advantages of Honeycomb Cooling Pads
Honeycomb cooling pads are made using modern technology. They are usually made from cellulose paper and have a honeycomb-like structure.

Their structure is strong, making them more durable. If the salt content in the water is low, they can be used for three to five years.

Due to their unique structure, water spreads evenly throughout the pad, providing better cooling. They also stay wet for longer, making the cooler air feel cooler.

Disadvantages of Honeycomb Pads
The biggest drawback of honeycomb pads is their cost. They are significantly more expensive than grass pads.
If there is too much salt in the water, the salt can accumulate inside them and block the passages, reducing airflow.
They can also develop a foul odor if used for a long time.

Which is the better option?
If you want to avoid the hassle of frequently replacing cooling pads and don't mind spending a little more, honeycomb pads may be a better option.
However, if your budget is limited and you want good cooling at a lower cost, traditional grass pads can also prove to be a good and economical option.
