Many State Bank of India (SBI) customers believe that ATM cards are provided free of charge when they open an account, but that’s not entirely the case. SBI levies various charges on ATM-cum-debit cards that account holders should be aware of. Here’s a breakdown of the fees associated with SBI ATM cards:

1. Debit Card Issuance Charges

According to SBI’s official website, there are different charges depending on the type of debit card issued:

  • Classic / Silver / Global / Contactless Debit Card: No issuance charge
  • Gold Debit Card: Rs. 100 + GST
  • Platinum Debit Card: Rs. 300 + GST
2. Annual Maintenance Charge

SBI charges an annual maintenance fee starting from the second year after opening an account. This fee varies by card type:

  • Classic / Silver / Global Contactless Debit Card: Rs. 200 + GST
  • Yuva / Gold / Combo / My Card Debit Card: Rs. 250 + GST
  • Platinum Debit Card: Rs. 325 + GST
  • Platinum Business RuPay Card: Rs. 350 + GST
  • Pride / Premium Business Debit Card: Rs. 425 + GST
3. Debit Card Replacement Charge

If an ATM card is lost or stolen, SBI charges Rs. 300 + GST for a replacement card.

4. International Transaction Charges

These fees apply for international use:

  • Balance Inquiry at ATM: Rs. 25 + GST
  • Cash Withdrawal at ATM: Rs. 100 + up to 3.5% of the transaction amount + GST per transaction
  • International or E-commerce POS Transactions: 3% of the transaction amount + GST

SBI account holders are advised to review these charges carefully to understand the full costs associated with their ATM-cum-debit cards.
