Intense rainstorms have led to significant flooding at Barcelona Airport. This has also hampered operations, resulting in the cancellation of numerous flights. Dramatic footages from the city's international airport, Barcelona-El Prat, have been going viral. Due to the floods, airlines such as Vueling, Lufthansa, TAP Air Portugal, Iberia, easyJet, and Ryanair have been forced to cancel or delay flights. Many people took to their social media handles and shared shocking visuals from the airport. "Barcelona, Spain put on the highest alert for dangerous torrential rain. A total of 70 flights have been cancelled so far. Meanwhile, in Valencia, they are still searching for people. In Aladia, municipality, police and firefighters used a small boat and and spotlights to search a flooded underground parking lot for people," wrote an X user.

The massive flooding in the region is due to a certain meteorological phenomenon known as Dana, which is a depression of an isolated high altitude - it can give long series of heavy rains.
