Halifax is set to shut down 61 branches in 2025 and 2026 after what it says is an increased shift towards the use of online and mobile banking services. The chain, which is part of the Lloyds banking group, said the decision was made after assessing the potential impact on customers, including their continued access to banking services.
Halifax said bank closures are sometimes followed by so-called Community Banker visits to the area (see more below). Alternatively, a Banking Hub or Deposit Service could be established nearby as part of an independent review.

Other ways to bank with Halifax are also available, reports . They include using one of Halifax's sister banks, with Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of customers able to use branches across any of the three banks for everyday banking.
A community banker can also be booked with Halifax if available in your area. The Post Office can also be used to withdraw cash and make deposits into your bank account.
Halifax said: "Our Community Bankers provide banking services and account support for customers who may not have a local branch. They have dedicated space in a community venue or Banking Hub where you can pop in for a chat and get help with your banking needs."
