ITV's The Chase is known for its high-stress moments, often caused by contestants making decisions that their teammates disagree with. Despite viewers claiming they would never accept a minus offer, the reality is that many would if it meant getting "home and dry," as host Bradley Walsh puts it.
However, when contestant Lee chose this option, his Duncan was far from pleased, openly expressing his disappointment. Upon hearing Lee's decision, Duncan admitted he was "gutted" and even joked about having "a bad back" from carrying him through the game.
A user, who called for more contestants like Duncan, shared this incident on media. Tension escalated as Duncan questioned how Lee could "show his face" after choosing the lower offer.
Duncan's smug smile was evident each time Lee answered a question incorrectly, potentially validating his choice to go low. Even Chaser Paul Sinha chimed in, jokingly criticising Lee's tactics despite his lack of knowledge.
The Chase's final round came down to a one-question face-off between Lee and Paul Sinha, with humorously suggesting that Lee was "going to get shot" regardless of the outcome.
When Lee successfully made it through, Paul Sinha quipped: "Duncan's dreams of taking a significant amount of money back have er..."
Lee defended his performance and insisted it was still a substantial sum - yet, Duncan remained visibly irate at the quiz show situation.
As Lee passed by, Bradley jested: "Dunc's giving him the cold shoulder". Duncan then delivered a harsh eight-word retort - "I've got nothing to say to the maggot".
"Huh?" Bradley queried, not hearing him correctly. "I've got nothing to say to the maggot," Duncan reiterated unabashedly. "The maggot! " Bradley echoed, clearly taken aback, as Paul exclaimed: "Wow!"
Bradley swiftly attempted to diffuse the situation, remarking: "Thank goodness the two girls are there to separate them". Then when Paul Sinha clinched the final chase, Bradley asked Duncan for his thoughts.
He responded: "Ah, it could've been worse. He [Lee] could've won some money". However, Lee arguably had the last word when he noted they'd given their best and had "three really good team players", leaving Duncan looking far from pleased.
Awkward!
