The victim made his own way to the hospital and had left the scene by the time the officers arrived. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Merseyside Police said: "When officers arrived, the victim had left the scene in a car, and he self-presented at the hospital a short time later. The victim had been shot in the buttock, and his injury is not life-threatening."

"It is believed the victim was on Fountains Road when a dark car pulled up alongside him. A passenger in the rear of the car opened the door and fired a gun at the victim."
