Today we will know from the doctor what problems can be caused by eating too much turmeric.

Dr. Ritesh Sharma, Director, Kidney Transplant and Medicine Department, Asian HospitalTold that generally consuming turmeric is not harmful for the kidney, but eating it in excess can cause problems.

Especially taking its supplements can have a bad effect on the kidney. Actually turmeric contains curcumin and consuming it in excess can increase the amount of oxalate in the body. This increases the risk of kidney stones. People who are already suffering from kidney stones should not consume turmeric in excess. Eating too much turmeric can cause toxicity in the kidney and cause serious problems.

The doctor said that normal use of turmeric in food items is safe and it benefits the body. When turmeric is consumed in excess, it puts pressure on the kidneys and problems start arising. Turmeric can also react with some medicines, which can affect the kidneys. If you have kidney related problems, eat turmeric in small quantities.

Taking a calcium-rich diet and eating turmeric with green leafy vegetables can reduce the effect of oxalate. According to doctors, people should eat turmeric daily, but its quantity should not be too much.
