There are many Bollywood actors whose roles demand action stunts as per the scripts. There are times when action doubles are hired for a role, and then there are times when the actor has to perform the stunts themselves. Today, we will tell you about an incident when Amitabh Bachchan was declared clinically dead on the sets of his film. Big B was one of the major action heroes for three consecutive years. During one of his shoots, he suffered a major injury, and it was a time when even his wife, Jaya Bachchan, lost hope.
The incident dates back to July 26, 1982, when Amitabh was shooting for director Manmohan Desai’s Coolie. During the film’s shoot, Big B had to perform some intense action stunts in a fight sequence with Puneet Issar.
A miscalculated jump caused Amitabh Bachchan to collide with the edge of a table, resulting in a severe injury. He was immediately rushed to the hospital. The actor was in such a critical condition that doctors had to declare him clinically dead.
You will be shocked to know that Big B’s pulse rate went down to almost zero. He was unconscious for more than 14 hours. At one point, his wife, Jaya Bachchan, even lost hope. However, she gathered her strength and continued praying and fighting for his life.
Jaya stood by Big B like a rock and believed that her husband would recover. As soon as the news of Bachchan being hospitalized flashed on TV screens, his fans across the globe started praying for his speedy recovery.
With immense prayers and proper medical attention, Amitabh’s health gradually improved, and the actor took his time to get back on his feet. Later, Coolie was released the following year and became a huge hit.
