The teaser for Salman Khan’s upcoming mass entertainer, Sikandar, has been getting positive reactions since its release.

However, a few eagle-eyed fans have pointed out striking similarities between the frames and plot points of Sikandar’s teaser and Thalapathy Vijay’s Sarkar.

About Sarkar

Directed by A R Murugadoss, Sarkar was a political action thriller that followed an NRI who locks horns with corrupt politicians after uncovering the matter of illegal voting.

Sikandar’s teaser showcases Salman Khan as Sanjay Rajkot, a person who declares a battle against Minister Pradhan, played by Sathyaraj.

The reactions

Social media users are debating whether Sikandar is a remake of Sarkar.

One user commented, “SikandarTeaser Tells About The Same Political Story Which We Have Seen in Sarkar Movie and Even The Director of Both Movies are Same.”

Another user commented, “So it has been revealed that this movie is a remake of thalapathy vijay's ‘Sarkar’ Isiliye movie ka content reveal nhi krhe the.”

One user reacted, “The whole nation has now collectively agreed that Sikandar is a remake. It has been copied from Thalapathy Vijay and AR Murugadoss film Sarkaar. Salman Khan can never do anything original. I wont be spending my money on this crap. You should save money too.”

One user wrote, “Now it's oficial sikander is remake of #ThalapathyVijay's Sarkaar movei, nahi chalengi bhai ke cringe dilogues and acting ne KKBKJ wali vibe dedi.. another Disaster.”

The update

Reports have previously stated and continue to confirm that Sikandar is NOT a remake of Sarkar.

Pinkvilla journalist Himesh Mankad shared, “SALMAN KHAN - SIKANDAR - ORIGINAL CONTENT & NOT REMAKE! Sikandar is an ORIGINAL feature film curated by Sajid Nadiadwala and AR Murugadoss for Salman Khan and NOT A REMAKE of any Tamil film made by the director. The final leg of shooting is underway and the action-packed revenge drama will hit the big screen during the #Eid2025 weekend.”

PeepingMoon’s Rahul Raut wrote on X, “Salman Khan's Sikandar IS NOT A REMAKE of Thalapathy Vijay's 2018 Tamil film Sarkar as being speculated... It's an original story which AR Murugadoss wrote many years back and has now been brought to life on the big screen by Rajat Arora, Abbas Dalal &Hussain Dalal.”

The case of Deva

Even Shahid Kapoor insisted that Deva was not a remake of Mumbai Police until its release, but once the film hit the screens, it was revealed to be a frame-by-frame remake.

I hope that Sikandar is not a remake because the remake culture is saturated in Bollywood, and it is pretty evident with the failures of films like Baby John and Deva.

Sikandar is slated to release this Eid and is touted to be the comeback movie for Salman Khan.
