Fresh of the back of extended server maintenance for a new update, Sea of Thieves is being taken offline again by developer Rare.

Consider this your last minute warning to save your progress and secure any booty, because Sea of Thieves will be taken offline by Rare at 1pm GMT UK time on February 28.

It looks like the , and PC maintenance will be used to address a problem with server crashes since the release of the previous update.

The news was announced by Sea of Thieves developer Rare on X, alongside confirmation of the problem under investigation.

"Attention, pirates! Following our continued monitoring, the Sea of Thieves servers need to be taken offline in one hour, from 1pm UTC, for emergency maintenance to address an increase in server crash rates," reads a Rare tweet.

"Please head to an Outpost to hand in your treasure as soon as you can."

Rare was initially planning to take the game offline for a second time yesterday, but decided against it after seemingly fixing the issue.

"We have resolved an issue relating to server stability, and no longer need to take the game down for maintenance again today," reads a Rare tweet from February 27.

"We will continue to monitor the situation overnight and may take further action tomorrow. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."

Clearly the problem resurfaced, because 24-hours after the last server downtime, Sea of Thieves is going offline again.

Like the sea on a stormy day, the unpredictable nature of the problem means there's no concrete schedule for the next wave of server maintenance.

Server downtime typically lasts for a couple of hours, so hopefully the game will be back online by 3pm GMT UK time.

The issues first cropped up after the release of Season 15 earlier this month. The latest season added new Megalodons, as well as a level cap increase for Hunter's Call.

That's on top of new Fishing Voyages, as well as Treasured Fish, Hunter's Call Emissary and a new batch of seasonal rewards.
