March 10, Mumbai In a formal statement on the sexual harassment case involving former actress Tanushree Dutta, Nana Patekar, Ganesh Acharya’s attorney Padma Shkatkar, said that the “court has not taken the cognizance of the case as it was barred by the Limitation Act due to delay in registration of FIR.”
Tanushree was allegedly targeting the lawyer’s clients, according to the statement that accompanied the headline: “Finally justice served to Actor Nana Patekar, Choreographer Ganesh Acharya, Sami Siddhiqui (producer), and Rakesh Sarang (director).”
“The FIR bearing No. 448/2018 in Oshiwara police station filed on 10.10.2018 by complainant actress Tanushree Dutta primarily mentions of an incident dated 23.3.2008 which was false from day one targeting my clients,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the police investigation was carried out in a comprehensive manner.
“The Hon’ble Andheri Magistrate court has not taken cognizance of the case because it was barred by the Limitation Act due to the delay in registering the FIR in spite of the thorough investigation that the Oshiwara police station officer conducted and the ‘B summary report’ that he filed.”
“The complainant failed to make an application for a condonation of delay; they even failed to prove the maintainability of their case, and the court has dismissed their case,” the attorney said.
Even though there were over 100 persons on the set during filming, there was, on the surface, insufficient evidence to support her claim. My customers were unable to comprehend why these unfounded accusations were made.
“They have a sizable fan base because of their diligence and hard work, and the current accusations were made solely to disparage my clients’ images with a hidden agenda.”
“However, some women abuse the law to target well-known, respected figures in the industry, which is unethical and wrong and causes veterans’ careers to decline.”
In addition, the lawyer said in her statement that she had directly seen her “clients have faced a lot in these 7 years and had to undergo excessive trauma, stress, and sufferings.”
The Hon’ble Magistrate Court in Andheri rendered a decision today rejecting the complainant’s complaint. The ‘Me too’ group of plaintiffs is targeting guys with hidden agendas, and this case is undoubtedly a lighthouse for all of them. We trusted the legal system and law enforcement, and we are happy with the case’s current conclusion.
