Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been asked by Telangana Endowments Minister Konda Surekha to make sure that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) adhere to the established rules concerning recommendation letters for darshan.
Konda Surekha hailed the AP Chief Minister in a statement released on Tuesday for bringing back the recommendation letter mechanism for Tirumala Darshan. On behalf of all Telangana public representatives, she conveyed thanks for his leadership in making this decision. She said that there has been a significant surge in the number of devotees traveling to Tirumala from Telangana. She said that Lord Venkateswara Swamy is still equally adored in both states, stating that “the devotion of Telugu people has not decreased—it has only grown stronger—even after the formation of two separate States.”
Telangana MLAs, MLCs, and MPs are permitted to provide two recommendation letters per week for VIP Break Darshan (ticket price of Rs. 500) and two recommendation letters per week for Special Entry Darshan (ticket price of Rs. 300) in accordance with the official norms. Any two days between Monday and Thursday may be used for these letters.
Konda Surekha, however, expressed worry that TTD staff were not strictly adhering to these directives, which was inconveniencing both devotees and public representatives. To ensure that devotees from Telangana may continue to enjoy a seamless and dignified darshan experience at Tirumala, she asked the AP CM to please step in and give the TTD administration stern instructions to adhere to the agreed protocol.
