A viral claim about a Netflix initiative called the “Movie Reviewer Program,” which supposedly pays individuals $16-$38 per hour to review unreleased films, has been debunked as a scam. A Netflix spokesperson confirmed that no such program exists.
On January 23, 2025, a Threads user, @sundayprs, posted about an opportunity to earn “passive income” by reviewing Netflix content. Their post featured a cropped screenshot of a mobile notification allegedly confirming a payment of $3,130.06 for participation in the program. The user also shared a link, flixreview.com, as the application portal.
However, investigations revealed that flixreview.com is not affiliated with Netflix. Scam detection tools rated the site as unsafe, with scores ranging from 1/100 to 71/100, indicating potential fraudulent activity. The website redirected users to another domain, apply.myfunnelish.com/netflix, which was also flagged as a scam. Another suspicious URL, NetReviewFlix.com, received similarly low safety ratings.
Legitimate Netflix Preview Club Misrepresented
Netflix does operate a Preview Club, where select members watch unreleased content and provide feedback before final edits. However, participation is by invitation only and is not open for public applications. The club does not offer financial compensation and is available only in select countries, including the US, UK, Germany, Japan, and Mexico.
The false claim appears to exploit Netflix’s reputation to deceive users into sharing personal information. Experts advise caution when encountering similar job offers and recommend verifying opportunities through official company channels.
