Chase fans were left scratching their heads in disbelief during Thursday's (13 March) episode of the quiz show when they were hit with a baffling wedding rule. Host Bradley Walsh introduced four fresh contestants eager to challenge the day's Chaser - none other than Anne Hegerty, famously known as the Governess.

Bradley was all smiles as he greeted four hopefuls ready to face The Chaser. Andrew from Oldham, Karen from Whickham, Ashleigh from Norfolk, and Sam from Leeds teamed up, hoping their collective trivia prowess would triumph over quizzing titan Anne.

As the competition heated up, a question about matrimonial traditions popped up. Brad queried the contestant: "In England, what is normally the earliest time of day a wedding ceremony can start in an Anglican church?" With options of 8am, 10am, or 12pm on the table.

The contestant guessed noon, reasoning: "Just because people need to get ready?" But jaws dropped when the correct answer was unveiled as 8am, leaving viewers at home utterly gobsmacked.

Over on , one viewer exclaimed: "#TheChase Blimey, who gets married at 8am? You'd have to be up in the middle of the night to get ready." (sic)

Another tweeted in bewilderment: "How the f*** are people supposed to be ready to get ready at 8am?!! ... #TheChase." (sic)

Another fan confessed their surprise, posting: "8am, never knew. Seems way too early #TheChase." While yet another added: "WTF would want to get married at 8am #thechase." (sic)

Earlier this week, The Chase viewers were left scratching their heads over a "ridiculous" question about the Hollywood Walk of Fame that stumped both chaser Jenny Ryan and the audience, reports .

Bradley posed the question: "As of 2023, what was the fee for having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?" The options were £750, £7,500, or a whopping £75,000.

Susan from Stoke-on-Trent didn't hesitate to choose the highest amount, confidently saying: "I'm going high. I think those people can afford it." Bradley expressed his skepticism, remarking: "I don't think it's that. I think it's B."

But Susan hit the nail on the head with her £75,000 guess. Walsh congratulated her: "Well played, one step closer from home." And revealed that the Chaser had also missed the mark, guessing the same incorrect answer as Bradley.

However, Susan didn't share her thought process behind the correct choice.

The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV1
