American businessman Elon Musk's satellite-based internet service Starlink is on everyone's lips today. At present, Starlink has not got permission from the government to operate in India, but the company has tied up with two big telecom sector companies, Reliance Jio and Airtel. Now it is expected that as soon as permission is received from the government, Starlink will start providing satellite internet service in India with the help of Airtel and Jio. It is being said about Starlink that it will get internet directly from the satellite, due to which there will be no need to lay fiber cables or install towers. Many experts believe that this technology can bring a big change in the way we use the internet.

But the question arises that when Jio and Airtel are already providing wireless broadband internet service through Airfibre in the country, then why was satellite internet needed? To know the answer to this question, first, you have to understand the technology working in satellite internet and also know how the two technologies are different from each other.

How does AirFibre work?

The AirFibre service provided by Jio and Airtel is nothing but wireless internet technology. It provides high-speed 5G internet through advanced WiFi 6 technology. It does not require laying fiber in your home, but the AirFibre device accesses the internet from the nearest tower. That is, despite being wireless, this technology is dependent on the tower for the internet. This technology is very helpful in those places where the company cannot lay broadband fiber cables or cannot install towers.

Know what is Starlink

Starlink is very different from the AirFiber available in India. While AirFiber requires a tower to deliver internet, Starlink is completely wireless, that is, neither fiber cable nor tower is required in it. A small device that comes with it takes internet directly from the satellite and delivers it to your home. This technology can be very useful in places where there is no place to install mobile towers or lay cables. This technology is proving to be very effective in hilly and forest areas.

Starlink takes internet from SpaceX satellites revolving in low-earth orbit. Currently, more than 7 thousand Starlink satellites are working. With the help of which internet is being delivered to remote areas. To use it, you have to install a receiver (antenna) in your house which will connect directly to the satellite and provide internet. With this, you will be able to connect your mobile, smart TV, laptop, and computer.

Will satellite internet run directly on mobile phone?

As we told earlier, to run it, you have to install a receiver in your house. Your devices will connect to this receiver and they will get internet. According to the information, this receiver will be portable which you can take with you anywhere. To run it, you will need an electricity connection.
