Delhi Capitals is yet another franchise yet to win the IPL and will be keen to their hands on the trophy this year. Like Punjab Kings, they have also undergone a rebranding of the squad, changing their coach and captain to help achieve better results after years of consistency.
Although keeper-batter Rishabh Pant made his long-standing comeback to top-level cricket in IPL 2024 and delivered a strong performance with the bat, aggregating 446 runs, Delhi failed to reach the top four. The last time they reached top four was during the 2021 edition and their best performance was making it to the final in 2020 when they were beaten by the Mumbai Indians.
Ahead of the upcoming season, Axar Patel has been appointed captain, while Hemang Badani will be the head coach. For Capitals batter Kevin Pietersen will serve as their mentor.

Addressing his appointment as captain, Axar said he has grown as a cricketer and human being as during his tenure with the Capitals. He elaborated in a statement, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo:

Our coaches and scouts have done a superb job at the mega auction by putting together a balanced and robust squad which has tremendous potential."
