New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered a major setback before the start of the 18th season of 2025. Fast bowler Umran Malik has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to injury. In his place, the team has included left -arm fast bowler Chetan Sakaria in his squad. Kolkata Knight Riders themselves informed about this change. Chetan Sakaria has played international matches for the Indian cricket team. He has played one ODI and two T20 international matches for India. In addition, he has taken 20 wickets in 19 IPL matches so far. KKR has added him to his team for Rs 75 lakh.
Chetan Sakaria did not find any buyer in the IPL 2025 auction, after which he was associated with Kolkata Knight Riders as a net bowler.
The IPL 2025 will begin from March 22 and the first match will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The match will be held at KKR's home ground Eden Gardens. This season, KKR captaincy has been handed over to Ajinkya Rahane. Many new players have also been included in the team, which is expected to strengthen the squad.
