Sudden marriage decided

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri decided to get married in October 1973 and then suddenly both decided to get married on 3 June. The reason behind this was his plan to go to London. Jaya Bachchan later revealed that he decided to get married just 7 days before his scheduled journey and the marriage concluded a day before leaving for London.

Private wedding event

Amitabh Bachchan's father, famous poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan has mentioned his son's marriage in his autobiography 'in the after time'. He said that instead of keeping the wedding ceremony in his flat, Jaya Bachchan's family held a friend's house on the top floor of the SkyLark Building of Malabar Hills to keep it completely private. To maintain the confidentiality of the marriage, Amitabh's family sent only one telegram to his close relatives in which- immediately come with the family, but the reason for the marriage was not clearly told in it.

When prayed to save the groom from sight

Recalling the wedding day, Harivansh Rai Bachchan wrote- Amit looked so attractive that his mother prayed to Hanuman ji to save them from evil eyes. When the time came to wear Jayamala, he was emotional and said that whoever wants to see his face, he should see now.

Bride Jaya's shy glimpse

Harivansh Rai Bachchan wrote about Jaya Bachchan that Jaya was getting ready for marriage and for the first time I saw shyness on her face. I realized that this is a unique aspect of beauty. He further said that she was a great actress, but the hesitation I saw that day was completely natural and real.
