Mumbai: Check out the five bridge projects that are currently underway and are set to be completed this year. These bridges aim to reduce congestion and alleviate pressure on existing roads. The projects include Gokhale Road, Carnac Bridge, Mumbai-Goa Express Highway, Bellasis Bridge, and Byculla Bridge.
Gokhale Road: The Gokhale Bridge is a prominent structure that connects the east and west sides of Andheri. The second phase of the bridge was expected to be completed by November 14, but there has been a delay in the project. As a result, the new deadline has been pushed to April 30, 2025.
Mumbai-Goa Highway: The Mumbai-Goa highway, also known as the Konkan Expressway, will connect Panvel to Sindhudurg and several destinations. It is expected to be completed by May or June 2025 after several delays. According to Public Works Minister Shivendra Raje Bhosale, key pending works include the Angaon-Indapur stretch and the Sangameshwar-Lanja stretch, which have been reviewed and the order has been issued to complete the work quickly.
Bellasis Bridge: The new cable-stayed Bellasis Bridge, currently under construction, is situated between Mumbai Central and Grant Road. According to reports, the bridge is expected to be operational by October 2025. It will provide connectivity from the east to the west, linking Nagpada and Tardeo.
Byculla Bridge: The Byculla ROB project is currently 60 percent complete. This project aims to replace the existing ROB and transform it into a modern cable-stayed bridge. Although the project was originally scheduled for completion in 2024, some delays have pushed the expected completion date to October 2025.
Carnac Bridge: The Carnac Road Overbridge (ROB), which connects Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Masjid Bunder, was demolished in 2022. Due to delays, the project is now expected to be completed by May 3, 2025, although it was originally scheduled for delivery by April 17, 2025.
