has previously been open about her cosmetic surgery, which left her "traumatised." The former presenter, 64, treated herself to a facelift when she hit 50 years old, and it reportedly cost her a whopping £10,000, according to She also said that she wouldn't say never to have more plastic surgery further in the future.

When she appeared on in 2021, Kay defended her decision to undergo surgery in 2011 and was awkwardly quizzed by Anne Robinson about her reasons having the procedure. Responding to the host, Kay joked: "Well, I didn't want to get mugged off by mother nature. My mother was dead when she was my age. I wanted to live my life as long as I could. I like looking good, and it brought me a bit more time."

She said about the experience: "It actually isn't a very painful experience. It's just a traumatic experience because obviously I get paid for what I look like to a certain extent, and it's a bit of a risk, but thankfully - and hopefully - it paid off." She then explained that her lower facelift targeted her neck and jawline areas.

She continued: "It's a bit like an Essex facelift where you pull your hair up behind and see what you look like." The results usually last around 10 years and the procedure is performed under general anaesthetic, roughly taking one to two hours to complete.

Kay also said that she wouldn't say no to further cosmetic surgery further down the line. In an interview with The Standard, she confessed: "Never say no to more plastic surgery. I'm a convert to needling at the moment. I work hard for my money, I'll spend it how I like thank you very much."

The esteemed journalist recently announced her retirement from Sky News last month after a 36-year tenure. In similar news, Kay previously revealed a chilling warning from her doctor after she once woke up "covered in blood".

Speaking to The Times in June 2024, the 64-year-old detailed her hectic morning routine before departing her Knightsbridge flat and heading to Sky's Millbank studios in southwest London. To present Kay Burley at Breakfast live from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., the journalist described how she sets her alarm for 3.17 a.m., takes a moment to breathe, and switches on all her lights to ensure she is fully awake.

The mother-of-one emphasised that this wake-up method prevents her blood pressure from plummeting to perilous levels. She said: "The sitting up, taking a breath and putting all the lights on is very, very important because last year I jumped out of bed and, next thing, I woke up covered in blood on the bathroom floor.

"I take medicine to lower my blood pressure and the menopause lowers it further still. Who knew? I got out of bed too quickly and just passed out in the shower."
