is set to grip 'true'-crime enthusiasts with its latest offering, The Diamond Heist, premiering this April, complete with a heart-pounding trailer that's just dropped.
The three-part docuseries delves into the audacious attempted heist of the £350 million Millennium Star Diamond from the Millennium Dome in 2000.
Narrated by the South East London criminals who plotted the raid and the members of the largest Flying Squad operation ever assembled to thwart them, the series offers an inside look at both sides of the law.
In the newly released trailer, convicted robber Lee Wenham and his crew of notorious crooks reveal details about the crime. The footage features Lee reflecting on the Millennium Dome's opening year (now The O2 Arena), which famously displayed some of the globe's most valuable diamonds.
Lee shares his vision for what was meant to be his swansong in crime: infiltrating the vault, making a clean getaway, and pulling off what could have been the most daring robbery in history, reports .
In a sneak peek of the series, Lee is captured on camera confessing: "In July 2000, we had a team and the target with the Millennium Star."
He adds: "I don't know anything about diamonds, but I think it was a bit of a piss take putting it where it was - the exciting thing was the diamond."
Lee continues: "I decided to myself it was going to be my last job. We needed to figure out how to get inside the vault, get the diamond and get away - if we could pull it off, it would be the biggest heist of all time."
The trailer also offers a glimpse into the minds of the Flying Squad, who were lying in wait for Lee and his crew to make a mistake.
The series, executive produced by Guy Ritchie and produced by the award-winning Lightbox Media, promises to be a "''true'' crime caper" according to its synopsis.
The synopsis explains: "It's summer 2000. A group of South-East London criminals are orchestrating what just might be the most audacious heist of all time.
"Their plan: use a bulldozer to ram-raid the brand new Millennium Dome in broad daylight, steal the world's second biggest flawless diamond in a haul worth £350 million, and escape by speedboat down the Thames. There's just one tiny problem: the Flying Squad are watching."
The story is told from the perspective of the South East London gang who attempted the daring raid, as well as the members of the largest Flying Squad operation in history, who foiled their plans.
The Diamond Heist will be coming to Netflix on 16th April.
