Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi celebrates a touching personal landmark on social media just after her character's gripping departure from the show.
Her beloved alter ego Leyla Harding tragically died in last month's limousine catastrophe, an event that also claimed the lives of her business associate Suzy Merton (portrayed by Martelle Edinborough) and Amy Barton (played by Natalie Ann Jamieson).
Reflecting on her exit, at the time, a stunned Roxy confessed: "When I first found out, I was very shocked. I had been in the show for a long time and I wasn't expecting this news."
Recently, Roxy took to Instagram to post three endearing photos of her dog with the heartwarming caption: "A year with this little guy [red heart emoji] Mr Cooper."
Her followers swiftly poured in comments under the heartwarming update, reports Leeds Live.
One follower enquired: "Where did you rescue him from please? Happy adoptaversary."
Another praised: "He's absolutely gorgeous. We have similar, a caramel cockapoo Scarlet. We have had her just over a year too."
An admirer noted: "He's a gorgeous pup x" and yet another fan concurred: "Aww he's adorable."
A different user exclaimed: "You're a wee cutie."
Roxy, who graced Emmerdale as Leyla since 2008, opened up about her emotional last shoot with screen son Joe-Warren Plant, who takes on the role of Jacob Gallagher.
During those crucial moments depicting the crash and hospital aftermath, Roxy revealed that despite acting "supposed to be dead", she couldn't hold back her tears.
Speaking to The Sun, she expressed: "Of course it's sad to see my character die, and I have loved playing Leyla because she is so funny, camp and a brilliant character.
"But at the same time, if I had left it another five years, I might not have felt as excited as I do now.
"I have had a long time to process everything and I am looking forward to my next chapter. I've always wanted to explore other things and now I've got the opportunity."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
