Wolves forward Matheus Cunha handed additional one-match ban and fine
21 Mar 2025

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha has been handed a one-match extension to his current suspension and a £50,000 fine.

The punishment follows his inappropriate behavior after Wolves's FA Cup defeat to Bournemouth.

The Brazilian striker was sent off for a violent clash with Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez in the dying moments of extra time.

Here are further details.

Cunha's actions lead to extended suspension
Violent conduct

In the last minute of extra time in the FA Cup clash, Cunha received a straight red card for violent conduct. He hit Hungary left-back Kerkez three times, forcing him to be escorted off the pitch.

This incident has now led to an extra game being added to his initial three-match suspension.

As a result, he will miss four matches including a Premier League clash against Ipswich Town on April 5.

Previous suspension and disciplinary history
Past incidents

Cunha's disciplinary record also includes a two-match ban in January for an incident with Ipswich Town's security personnel.

After Wolves's 2-1 win at Molineux Stadium in December, the Brazilian was involved in an altercation where he removed a staff member's glasses.

These incidents add to the forward's growing list of disciplinary violations during his time with Wolves.
